Elder Derrick Truesdale Prophet & Visionary Founder "My strength lies in the oil that I pour... for God." ~ Prophet
Elder Derrick Truesdale was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended and graduated from the Baltimore County Public School System. Prophet Truesdale discovered he his "gifting" at a young age, when he began to write poetry. Little did he realize then that it was the voice of God speaking to him. Prophet is an accomplished poet, having his works published in regional and local magazines and writing original pieces for the Miss Black USA Pageant as well as a former Congressman. Prophet was on the path to publishing his first book when God took him in another direction. Through what can only be called a "stripping Process", Prophet's focus transitioned from poetry to ministry. At the lowest moment of his life, He heard God's voice, directing him to move to Tulsa, Ok. He obeyed. While in Tulsa, Prophet enrolled at Oral Roberts University School of Theology. His experiences helped him accept, understand and sharpen his prophetic voice. Prophet graduated Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Theology. Upon graduation, he returned to Baltimore to pursue his work in ministry. Currently, he is pursuing a MS/PhD. degree in Psychology/Pastoral Counseling through a specialized dual degree program at Loyola College of Maryland.
Prophet is currently the Department Chair of English and Language Arts at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, the oldest Black Catholic School in the country. He is a member of the Academic Council and Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team. He is a member of N.C.T.E., the National Council of Teachers of English, The Black Poet's Society, and Oral Robert's University Ministerial Alliance. He has been listed in the 2009-2010 Princeton Premier Business Leaders and Professionals Registry as well as Who's Who of African American Poets and Who's Who of American Teachers. Although his journey, his draeams were not ignored. Prophet recently became a published author by completing his first book of poetry, "He Spoke In Whispers." Above all of his accomplishments, his greatest role is being father to three children, Ceara, Fi'ona and Eric Davon and a devoted husband to Rev. Angelisa Truesdale, co-founder of Redeeming Oil Ministries. |
